Summary
Journalism is competitive and instinctive.During this 3 day-course we will cover what makes a story, how to pitch that story to the news editor, how to research and fine tune the story.We will then go through how to structure a TV news story, how to script it, including writing to pictures, what to include and what to avoid.

Objectives
At the end of the course participants shall:Acquire the skills to find, pitch and script a good television news story.Be able to write to pictures to make sure they make the maximum impact with their work.

• Ways of finding a story.
• Research: The importance of being thorough, impartial and accurate.
• Fairness, hearing the other voice, the other side to an argument or dispute, presenting diverse points of view without bias or partiality.
• Relationship between journalist, colleagues and newsdesk
• What elements do you need for a good TV news story?
• Structure: How to structure your story
• How to write scripts
• How to write to pictures, using natural sound, allowing a TV filmed package to “breathe”, to give maximum impact
